The new Staffordshire Neurological Alliance exists to provide a united voice for those affected by any of the 80 or so neurological conditions and address the wide disparity in provision across the county.

The Alliance feels strongly that the decision makers at a national and local level, commissioners, service providers from all sectors, and clinicians have to co-produce services with people with neurological conditions to achieve quality and effectiveness at a realistic cost.

We estimate that there are 160,000 people affected by neurological conditions in Staffordshire alone and:

  • Less than 10% are members of or even aware of the excellent services available from the condition specific voluntary bodies that exist nationally and regionally
  • Substantial numbers are unaware of services available from statutory bodies or how to access these

Our Objectives

The Alliance has 4 objectives to be achieved within 2 years

  1. To be recognised as an unbiased, realistic, competent advocate by all affected by neurological conditions
  2. To be an effective partner in decision making with voluntary bodies, government at all levels and all sectors of the NHS and Social Care
  3. Establish effective links with all other RNA’s and the National body and be a partner in NA policy making.
  4. Establish a robust permanent structure, with achievable goals and sustainable operating practices including communications, funding and governance. To this end to be a Limited Company and a registered charity within the first year.
